Conferences & Weddings

Otaki-Maori Racing Club, located on beautiful Otaki racecourse, is ideal for hosting all kinds of events, business expos and social activities.

Just over an hours drive north of Wellington , this beautiful property with a number of rooms suitable for meetings, seminars, celebrations etc is also just 20 minutes from Paraparaumu.

Otaki racecourse is two minutes east of SH1, has huge parking, two grandstands, each containing a number of function room possibilities. Though no catering company operates from the racecourse permanently, Otaki-Maori Racing Club is fortunate in having Creative Catering available for all race meetings and private functions. This top of the line catering team will quote for any function you may wish to book at Otaki racecourse, though minimum numbers will be required for such occasions.

Areas also exist for large marquee setup, as for the Golden Oldies Raceday, and the club’s February Premier Meeting with its corporate ‘marquee alley’.

There are two ways to achieve a function booking. You can discuss and book with us your total requirements for the event, furnishings, catering, hospitality, and music if required. Or you can book everything but the catering with us, and deal directly with our prefered supplier Creative Catering

A refundable bond and deposit are payable to Otaki-Maori Racing Club, and conditions will be explained at the time of any booking. The cost of venue hireage will also be discussed at the time of any enquiry, but our charges are most reasonable.

Festivals & Concerts

The racecourse, 70 km’s north of Wellington, with Palmerston and Wanganui to the north, has easy access, massive parking, and would be an ideal location for a lower north island wine and food festival, or for selected outdoor concerts. The racecourse itself is approximately 170 acres, and countless possibilities exist.
If you have ideas, plans etc for such events we would welcome discussing them with you.

Following a particularly difficult period where a number of sheduled race meetings at Otaki were abandoned or transferred, the Otaki-Maori Racing Club decided that major ground work was required to reduce drainage issues and improve the track surface.

This work has been completed and they are waiting for the surface to improve to a standard that will allow racing again.

As at the 24th June, the first races back on the track are now scheduled to be on October 21st 2018 to ensure that the benefits from the ground renovations are maximised longer term.

We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience.
